CES 2013There are so many cool gadgets being announced at the 2013 International CES there's no way that we’ll be able to cover them all. So here are just a few to chew on to help you start your wish list for the New Year.

Smart Body Analyzer by Withings is the world's first smart scale to target weight, body fat, heart rate measurement and sleep. Readings are then transferred to the Withings Health Mate mobile application via Internet connection with the ability to store and share results with your family, friends and even your physician. It also runs over Wi-Fi and Bluetooth. It's expected to be available during Q1 2013 at a retail price of $149.95.

CES 2013 GlobaTrac LLC has introduced Trakdot, an affordable real-time baggage tracker so you know at an instant where your luggage really is. A palm-sized tracker fits into your luggage and once registered is monitored by the luggage locator system which can deliver information to a user's mobile phone or SMS device through text or email. Tracking can also be done by secure login directly via Trakdot or the luggage tracking app. It’s expected to be available March 2013 at $49.95. It will require an activation fee of $8.99 and a $12.99 annual service fee.

CES 2013 SpareOne, the makers of the emergency mobile phone that can last 15 years on a single AA battery, has unveiled the SpareOnePlus. The latest model includes a location-based service, which can identify the exact location of the cell ID and is accessible through a free smart phone app. As well, the company has added audible numeric feedback, which can read the number dialed and those of incoming calls out loud. It also features two new colours – Matte Silver and Flat Black. SpareOnePlus is expected to be available in early 2013.

CES 2013 Just when you think that instant film cameras were thing of the past, Fujifilm has introduced the new INSTAX Mini 8 Instant Camera with flash. It has a cute and compact body design and is available in five colours. This little gadget can produce photos by simply pressing the button beside the lens to power it on, adjusting the dial to the lit position and shoot.  The INSTAX Mini 8 supports a fixed shutter speed of 1/60 sec with 4 F-stop adjustments (indoors, cloudy and 2 sunny settings) and will produce a credit card size print instantly which will fully develop in a minute or two. It ships with 20 exposures of film and will be available in April 2013 with an MSRP of $99.99.  Instant film will sell for $19.99 for 20 shots.

CES 2013 Goal Zero, a company known for their portable solar products has announced the Goal Zero Yeti 150 Solar Generator. While technically portable, at 12 lbs. you likely wouldn't carry this around every day, but it would certainly be ideal for camping or emergency preparedness. Its 150 watt-hour battery can power all sorts of devices including lights and laptops and features built-in AC, 12V and USB ports. With the included 15W Boulder 15 solar panel, it can be fully charged by the sun in 15 hours. You can also recharge it via standard AC or 12V cigarette lighter. The company announced that limited quantities would start arriving in early 2013. Pricing and actual availability is to be determined, but you can sign up to be the first to know at Goal Zero.

CES 2013While more practical than sexy, a new series of supports and stands for iPad’s of any size have been unveiled by IK Multimedia, a company dedicated to musicians and artists. . The iKlip 2, ($39.99) the successor to the original iKlip is a clever mounting accessory for iPad 2 and up and iPad mini that attaches to a standard microphone stand. The iKlip Stand ($59.99) is a desktop stand that positions the iPad above the desktop so gear like keyboards and mixers etc., can be placed right under it. And finally, the iKlip Studio for iPad mini ($29.99) is a tabletop stand and stabilizer designed for flat surfaces and where the mini really needs to be held in place. It features two independent articulation joints to adjust both height and weight.  All models expected to be available first quarter of 2013.

These are just a few of the hundreds of new innovations and product updates we expect to see at CES 2013.
