It should therefore be no surprise to wrestling fans that publisher THQ has expanded their WWE videogame portfolio by resurrecting Technos' WWF Wrestlefest arcade game. Having not seen action since 1991, WrestleFest was the simplest of grappling games with the kick, punch buttons also providing a few basic wrestling moves, top rope capabilities and off the ropes maneuvers. WrestleFest was more about timing those moves and although not the most complex of experiences, it did have a certain charm to it; especially if you were a die-hard wrestling fan.
In updating WrestleFest, THQ has included many active wrestlers such as John Cena, CM Punk, Rey Mysterio Jr., Randy Orton, The Undertaker, Sheamus and Triple H alongside legends Jake "The Snake" Roberts, Randy "Macho Man" Savage, "Stone Cold" Steve Austin, Big Boss Man and Shawn Michaels. There are a whole slew of modes to choose from which increases the replayability in a big way. You can participate in the traditional Road to WrestleMania campaign where you can compete in a series of challenges to win five different WWE championships and also have a good chuckle at the cutscenes featuring the always entertaining "Mean Gene" Okerlund while you are at it. You can wrestle in a Royal Rumble match, a Saturday Night’s Main Event tournament, a tag team match and a Gauntlet Bout. There is also online multiplayer where you can challenge players from around the world.
