The Avengers

The Avengers are assembling for Montreal-based developer and publisher Ubisoft.

Ubisoft has announced a deal with Marvel Entertainment to create a motion-based video 'Avengers' video game.

Inspired by the 'Secret Invasion' storyline in which the alien Skrulls attempt to conquer the Earth and take over the identities of many key Marvel Comics heroes, 'Avengers: Battle For Earth' will be released this fall.

The game has been created for the Xbox 360 Kinect and Nintendo Wii's U systems only.

Ubisoft has had great success with motion-control games including such recent titles as "PowerUp Heroes", the "Just Dance" series and "Child Of Eden".

The game will spotlight 20 different Marvel characters including Iron Man, Hulk, Captain America and Thor, as well as other fan-favorite Super Heroes and Super Villains from the Marvel Universe.

Ubisoft will be stepping in for Sega who has held the lead on most of the Marvel/Avengers based games like 'Captain America: Super Soldier' and "Thor: God of Thunder", with varying degrees of success.

There was no major software release to coincide with 'The Avengers' feature film except for the Disney Interactive Media Group's 'Marvel: Avengers Alliance', a Facebook application-game.

No exact release date has been announced but Ubisoft will be going into more detail during the E3 Expo in June.
